Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll mentioned that rookie LB Bobby Wagner has a “heck of a chance” to start at middle linebacker for them this season.
“The (MLB) spot is wide open and we have to see what happens,” Carroll said, via the Associated Press. “We’d love to get that speed on the field if we could.”
Wagner’s main competition for the position isย veteran MLB Barrett Ruud, but if speed is what the Carroll is looking for, then you’d have to think that Wagner would be the favorite.
Ruud has been dealing with some injuries, but his play in recent year’s has to be a concern as well. Pro Football Focus has Ruud rated #47 out of #50 for last season and #49 overall in 2010.
