The Seattle Seahawks announced Monday that they’ve officially waived DT Nazair Jones, RB Adam Choice, DT Shakir Soto and LB Pita Taumoepenu to make room for undrafted free agent signings.
Jones, 25, is a former third-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2017. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $3.17 million contract and set to make a base salary of $758,375 for the 2020 season.
Jones was placed on injured reserve last year coming out of the preseason with a knee injury and missed the 2019 season.
For his career, Jones has appeared in 20 games for the Seahawks and recorded 26 tackles, two sacks, an interception, a fumble recovery and three passes defended.
Taumoepenu, 26, is a former sixth-round pick of the 49ers back in 2017. He agreed to a four-year, $2.5 million contract, but was waived coming out of the preseason in 2018.
The 49ers re-signed Taumoepenu to their practice squad before promoting him towards the end of the season. He was later claimed off of waivers by the Cardinals, but was once again cut loose at the start of the season.
From there, Taumoepenu signed on to the Seahawks’ practice squad before returning to Seattle on a futures contract this past January.
In 2018, Taumoepenu appeared in four games for the 49ers and recorded three tackles and no sacks.
