Field Yates is reporting that free agent OT Branden Albert worked out for the Seahawks on Monday.
The Seahawks could clearly use offensive line help and Albert is by far the best available player at the tackle position right now.
A report from a few months ago actually said that Albert has no desire to play football anymore. Although that can shortly after he was released by the Jaguars.
Albert retired while he was a member of the Jaguars only to return to the team during the preseason, which eventually led to his release.ย Many speculated that Albert unretired in order to not have to pay back $3.4 million of his signing bonus that he would have owed the Jaguars.
Albert, 32, is a former first-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2008. He spent six years in Kansas City before signing a five-year, $46 million contract with $25 million guaranteed with the Dolphins back in 2014.
Albert had two years remaining on his contract and stands to make base salaries ofย $8.875 million and $9.575 million during this time.
Jacksonville agreed to send aย 2018 seventh-round pick to the Dolphins in return for Albert. Although, Miami will no longer receive this pick, as the conditions of the trade obviously weren’t met.
In 2016, Albert appeared in 12 games and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 65 offensive tackle out of 78 qualifying players.
