According to Josina Anderson, six teams including the Chiefs, Ravens, Vikings, Raiders, Eagles and Seahawks have made “substantive” inquiries regarding Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey.
Ramsey is expected to play in Thursday night’s game against the Titans, but Anderson reports he doesn’t anticipate being a Jaguar by next Sunday. She adds nearly every team has at least placed a call regarding Ramsey.
Previous reports have linked the Chiefs, Eagles, Seahawks and Raiders to Ramsey. Jacksonville is reportedly asking for two first-round picks, however, neither of the two offers it had on the table earlier this week met that threshold.
For what it’s worth, Ramsey said in an interview last month that his two ideal teams to play for would be either the Titans or the Raiders once they move to Las Vegas.
Ramsey’s agent requested a trade following Jacksonville’s loss and a confrontation on the sideline between the corner and Jaguars HC Doug Marrone. Jacksonville also reportedly considered trading him last year.
After the team informed Ramsey they would not negotiate a contract extension with him this year, Ramsey said he wouldn’t be offering any hometown discount in his next contract.
Ramsey, 24, is a former first-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2016. He signed a four-year, $23.35 million contract and is set to make a base salary of $3.63 million in 2019.
The Jaguars picked up Ramsey’ fifth-year option that will cost them around $13 million for the 2020 season and will become fully guaranteed on the first day of 2020 league year.
In 2019, Ramsey has appeared in two games for the Jaguars and recorded nine tackles, no interceptions and one pass defense.
We’ll have more regarding Ramsey as the news is available.
