Steelers Sign RB Ben Tate & Waive WR Justin Brown

Update:

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced the signing of veteran RB Ben Tate on Tuesday.

The Steelers waived WR Justin Brown to make room for their new addition.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Steelers are hosting RB Ben Tate for a visit Tuesday, and if everything goes well, Pittsburgh is expected to sign him to a contract.

The Vikings placed Tate on waivers last week, despite the fact that they claimed him off of waivers from the Cleveland Browns a little over a month ago.

Tate has been unable to carve out any sort of role in the Vikings’ offense in the past month.

The Steelers are obviously in need of more running back help after Le’Veon Bell sustained a hyper extended knee during Sunday night’s win over the Bengals.

Tate, 26, has ran for 371 yards on 119 carries (3.1 YPC) and four touchdowns over the course of 11 games.

We’ll have an update later in the day regarding this situation.
