The Pittsburgh Steelers announced that S Mike Mitchell has been taken to the locker room to be evaluated for a left knee injury.

Mitchell’s return is considered questionable at this point in time.

Mitchell, 29, is a former second-round pick of the Raiders back in 2009. After four years in Oakland and a brief stint with the Panthers, Mitchell signed a five-year, $25 million contract with $5.75 million guaranteed back in 2014.

Mitchell stands to make base salaries of $5 million in each of the next three years.

Entering today’s game, Mitchell had appeared in five games and recorded 27 tackles, no interceptions and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 53 safety out of 83 qualifying players.
