Ben Roethlisberger Ruled Out Against The Ravens

Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that the Steelers have ruled out QB Ben Roethlisberger, and QB Byron Leftwich for Week 13 against the Ravens.

Right now Roethlisberger’s  issue is that he’s unable to throw the ball, but it has nothing to with pain in his rib. QB Charlie Batch will be making his second consecutive start of the season against the Ravens on Sunday.

The chance of Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger playing on Sunday “does not look very good”, according to Ed Bouchette.

With a number of different injuries ranging from his dislocated rib to his sprained shoulder, Roethlisberger is far from healthy and likely won’t be able to suit up for Sunday’s contest. If Roethlisberger can’t play, the Steelers will again roll with QB Charlie Batch under center.

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger mentioned that “there’s always a chance” that he could suit up against the Ravens this weekend.

We’ll go out and re-evaluate it again today. See how it feels after today.” added Roethlisberger, via Scout.com.

Earlier reports indicated that he’s still unsure as to whether or not he’ll be able play, but Roethlisberger did say that his dislocated rib no longer posses a threat to his heart.

Ben is also dealing with a sprained shoulder that his limited overall range of motion, so he’ll need to some improvement in the coming days to even have a shot of playing.

ESPN’s Bob Holtzman reports that a a source with knowledge of the situation has informed him that Ben Roethlisberger has “less than a 50 percent chance” to play against the Ravens this weekend, via Rotoworld.

Holtzman adds that Roethlisberger’s dislocated rib is still his “biggest issue.

As of Roethlisberger reportedly doesn’t feel as though he’s able to throw the ball effectively, but he is expected to continue to test out his arm in the coming days.

It’s safe to say that Roethlisberger will probably sit out Week 13 in the hopes that he’ll be available to return the following week.

Alan Robinson of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that the Steelers are preparing to start QB Charlie Batch to start against the Baltimore Ravens this weekend.

Ben Roethlisberger threw some passes for the first since suffering multiple injuries, but it seem unlikely that he’ll be able to play in Week 13 at this point in time.

If Pittsburgh is forced to play Batch, they stand almost no chance against the Ravens.

The Pittsburgh Steelers aren’t rushing QB Ben Roethlisberger back into the lineup, allowing him to work his way onto the practice field at his own pace according to Jason La Canfora.

“We’ll leave the door open for him. He has a chance,” said Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin. “We’ll let the results of that [week’s practice] work lead us in the direction we could potentially go. He’s not going to be allowed to play unless he proves he’s capable.”

Pittsburgh needs Roethlisberger back in the lineup if it hopes to compete for a Wild Card berth, considering the team wasn’t able to top the lowly Cleveland Browns on Sunday without their quarterback on the field.
