Chiefs A Team To Watch For Jalen Ramsey Trade?

Update: According to NFL Media’s Jeffri Chadiha, the Chiefs currently have no interest in trading for Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey.

โ€œIf something drastically changes (like he doesnt want a new deal lol) youโ€™ll be first to know,” Chadiha’s source said. “But nothing there.โ€

According to Jason La Canfora, there’s a strong sentiment emerging in league circles that the Chiefs will be the “primary suitor” for Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey.

La Canfora says the Chiefs have shown they’re not averse to taking on players perceived to be difficult. Kansas City also has serious Super Bowl aspirations and their secondary is the biggest hole on the roster currently.

However, a report from Jeffri Chadiha says the Chiefs aren’t interested in Ramsey because their locker room is “too good right now.”

Ramsey’s agent requested a trade yesterday following Jacksonville’s loss and a confrontation on the sideline between the corner and Jaguars HC Doug Marrone. Ramsey is also frustrated with how he’s being used in the Jaguars’ defensive scheme

While Jacksonville has spoken with interested teams, there are currently no plans to trade Ramsey. The Jaguars are reportedly asking for at least one first-round pick, though they likely would need more to deal the star corner.

Reports last year mentioned that the Jaguars were considering trading him. However, nothing came of them.

For what it’s worth, Ramsey said in an interview last month that his two ideal teams to play for would be either the Titans or the Raiders once they move to Las Vegas.

After the team informed Ramsey they would not negotiate a contract extension with him this year, Ramsey said he wouldn’t be offering any hometown discount in his next contract.

Ramsey, 24, is a former first-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2016. He signed a four-year, $23.35 million contract and is set to make a base salary of $3.63 million in 2019.

The Jaguars picked up Ramsey’ fifth-year option that will cost them around $13 million for the 2020 season and will become fully guaranteed on the first day of 2020 league year.

In 2019, Ramsey has appeared in two games for the Jaguars and recorded nine tackles, no interceptions and one pass defense.

We’ll have more regarding Ramsey as the news is available.
