Texans Activate TE Jordan Thomas From IR, Cut Two

The Houston Texans announced Wednesday that they’ve activated TE Jordan Thomas from injured reserve and waived DE Joel Heath and WR Steven Mitchell Jr.

The Texans also promoted S Jonathan Owens to their active roster.

Thomas, 23, is a former sixth-round pick of the Texans back in 2018. He’s currently in the second year of his four, $2.6 million contract.

Thomas was placed on injured reserve coming out of the preseason with a rib injury before recently being designated to return.

In 2018, Thomas appeared in all 16 games for the Texans and caught 20 passes for 215 yards receiving and four touchdowns.

Heath, 26, signed with the Texans in 2016 as an undrafted free agent out of Michigan State. He played out the final year of his rookie contract before returning to Houston this past March on a one-year, $1.6 million restricted deal.

Unfortunately, the Texans waived Heath coming out of the preseason before recently being re-signed.

In 2018, Heath appeared in five games for the Texans, recording two total tackles.
