The Houston Texans announced Friday that they’ve claimed CB Jermaine Ponder off waivers from the Steelers and waived CB Jermaine Kelly Jr. with an injury designation.
Should Ponder clear waivers tomorrow, he would revert to the Texans’ injured serve list.
Ponder, 24, signed with the Browns as an undrafted free agent in 2019 out of St. Francis University. Cleveland released him a few weeks ago and he signed on with the Steelers soon after.
Pittsburgh waived Ponder on Thursday.
During his senior season, Ponder recorded 25 total tackles, one interception and 15 pass defenses in 11 games.
