Report: Free Agent S Chris Clemons Visiting With Texans Friday

Update:

John McClain reports that free agent S Chris Clemons is, in fact, visiting with the Texans on Friday.

Tania Ganguli of ESPN.com mentions that free agent S Chris Clemons could be an option for the Texans now that they have reworked the contract of S Danieal Manning.

  • Ganguli notes that Texans director of pro scouting, Brian Gaine, drafted Clemons while in Miami.

It’s been somewhat surprising to see how little interest Clemons has found since free agency got underway a few weeks ago. The Lions and Jets have shown some interest in him, but Detroit has already added James Ihedigbo.

Clemons, 28, signed a one-year contract worth $2.75 million with the Dolphins last season. In 2013, Clemens totaled 92 tackles, one interception and eight passes defensed over the course of 16 games.

Pro Football Focus has Clemens rated as the No. 19 safety in league last season while holding up well in coverage.

We have him listed as the No. 4 player in our Best Available Free Agents list.
