Texans DE J.J. Watt Out For Season With Torn Pec

Update:

J.J. Watt has confirmed that he’s out for the season with a torn pec.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Texans fear DE J.J. Watt may have suffered a torn pec, which would end his 2019 season.

A Texans’ source tells Dianna Russini of Watt’s injury: โ€œWe feel terrible for him. He works so damn hard and heโ€™s such a good person. Canโ€™t replace him on or off the field.โ€

Watt is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the full extent of the issue.

David Chao mentioned earlier that based on video, it appeared to be a season-ending injury.

Watt, 30, is a former first-round pick of the Texans back in 2011. He’s in the fifth year of his eight-year, $108.88 million contract that includes $51.8 million guaranteed and stands to make base salaries of $13 million and $13.5 million over the next two years of the deal.

In 2019, Watt has appeared in eight games and recorded 24 tackles, four sacks, a forced fumble, two recoveries and two pass defenses.

Weโ€™ll have more regarding Watt as the news is available.
