Texans DE J.J. Watt Out For Season With Torn Pec

Update:

J.J. Watt has confirmed that he’s out for the season with a torn pec.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Texans fear DE J.J. Watt may have suffered a torn pec, which would end his 2019 season.

A Texans’ source tells Dianna Russini of Watt’s injury: “We feel terrible for him. He works so damn hard and he’s such a good person. Can’t replace him on or off the field.

Watt is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the full extent of the issue.

David Chao mentioned earlier that based on video, it appeared to be a season-ending injury.

Watt, 30, is a former first-round pick of the Texans back in 2011. He’s in the fifth year of his eight-year, $108.88 million contract that includes $51.8 million guaranteed and stands to make base salaries of $13 million and $13.5 million over the next two years of the deal.

In 2019, Watt has appeared in eight games and recorded 24 tackles, four sacks, a forced fumble, two recoveries and two pass defenses.

We’ll have more regarding Watt as the news is available.
