Texans Have Called Patriots About WR Phillip Dorsett, But Haven’t Made Much Progress

Jeff Howe reports that the Texans have called the Patriots about WR Phillip Dorsett but it doesn’t sound like there’s been much progress on the trade front to this point.

Houston has been in the trade market for receiver help, but agreed to a deal with the Broncos for Demaryius Thomas, which likely prevents them from making any more deals for receivers.

There has been speculation that the Titans could have some interest in Dorsett, given that they too are in the market for receiver help.

Dorsett, 25, is a former first-round pick by the Colts in the 2015 NFL Draft. He is entering the final year of a four-year, $8.135 million rookie contract that included $6.591 million guaranteed and is set to earn a base salary of $1,094,373 in 2018.

The Patriots acquired him from the Colts during last year’s offseason in exchange for QB Jacoby Brissett.

In 2018, Dorsett has appeared in eight games for the Patriots and caught 20 passes for 198 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
