Texans OLB Jadeveon Clowney Undergoing Knee Surgery, Placed On I.R.

Houston Texans HC Bill O’Brien announced Thursday that No. 1 overall pick OLB Jadeveon Clowney will be placed on season-ending injured reserve with a knee injury.

  • According to O’Brien, Clowney will need to undergo surgery on his right knee.

This will be Clowney’s second operation on his right knee since the season got underway in September, so this will be a situation to watch in the coming years.

Clowney sustained a meniscus tear during the first game of the season, which ultimately cost him the first seven weeks of the season.

His rookie year comes to an end with him recording just seven tackles an no sacks over the course of four games. Pro Football Focus has Clowney down for playing 132 snaps this season to go along with a below average rating of -2.2.

Clowney should be back at full strength in time for the start of the 2014 regular season.
