The Houston Texans officially placed RB Lamar Miller and OT David Steinmetz on injured reserve Monday and waived DB Deante Burton and DB Derrick Jones (injury settlement).
Miller, unfortunately, suffered a torn ACL and MCL during last week’s preseason game.
Miller, 28, is a former fourth-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2012. He played out his rookie contract with Miami before agreeing to a four-year, $26 million contract that included $14 million guaranteed with the Texans back in 2016.
Miller stands to make a base salary of $5.5 million for the 2019 season before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2020.
In 2018, Miller has appeared in 13 games for the Texans and rushed for 917 yards on 193 carries (4.8 YPC) to go along with 23 receptions for 163 yards receiving and five total touchdowns.
Jones, 24, is a former sixth-round pick of the Jets back in 2017. He was in the third year of his four-year, $2.54 million contract and set to make a base salary of $645,000 for the 2019 season when the Jets waived him last week.
Jones was later claimed by the Packers. However, Green Bay waived him the next day with a failed physical designation. The Texans signed him to a contract soon after.ย
For his career, Jones has appeared in four games and recorded three tackles and no interceptions over the course of two seasons.
