Clabo, 33, signed a two-year, $2.4 million contract with the Texans back in July of last year. He would have made a base salary of $900,000 for the 2015 season.
According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Clabo will free up $1,220,000 in available cap space while creating $100,000 in dead money.
In 2014, Clabo appeared in 15 games for the Texans, but was limited to playing just 101 snaps, according to Pro Football Focus. PFF’s ranking suggest Clabo was a solid run-blocker for the Texans, but struggled a bit in pass defense.
