Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.
Ferguson, 25, wound up signing on with the Colts as an undrafted free agent out of Illinois back in 2016. He managed to make the 53-man roster during his rookie season, but was waived with an injury designation coming out of the preseason and later released with a settlement.
Ferguson returned to the Colts, but was once again waived injury settlement a few weeks into the 2018 season. He had brief stints with the Texans and Patriots practice squad in 2018.
In 2017, Ferguson appeared in 10 games for the Colts and rushed for five yards on one attempt and no touchdowns. He also had three receptions for 16 yards (5.3 YPC) to go along with 86 kickoff return yards.
