The Houston Texans announced Wednesday that they’ve signed NT Brandon Dunn to a contract extension.
According to Aaron Wilson, Dunn receives a three-year, $12 million extension from the Texans.
It’s interesting to see the Texans move quickly to get Dunn signed to an extension, given that DT D.J. Reader is set to be a free agent next month. It’s at least possible that Houston could be preparing for the possibility that Reader will move on this offseason.
Dunn, 27, signed on with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of back in 2014. He spent most of his time with the Bears on and off of their practice squad before the Texans signed him to their active roster in 2015.
Since then, Dunn has been on and off of the Texans’ active roster in 2018 and returned to Houston last year on a one-year restricted deal. He was in line to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
In 2019, Dunn appeared in all 16 games for the Texans and recorded 25 tackles and a sack.
