The Houston Texans have signed OTย Rick Leonard to a futures contract on Tuesday for the 2019 season, according to his agent Brett Tessler.
Rick Leonard (OT, Florida State) just signed a futures deal with the Houston Texans. Was a 4th round pick of the New Orleans Saints who also spent time on the Rams and Cardinals practice squads this season.

As of now, the Texans have signed nine players to futures deals including:
- TE Jerell Adams
- OLBย Davin Bellamy
- RB Josh Ferguson
- OLBย Chris Landrum
- G Maurquice Shakir
- Tย David Steinmetz
- WRย Jester Weahย
- WR Isaac Whitney
- OT Rick Leonard
Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.
Leonard, 22, is a former fourth-round pick of the Saints back in 2018. He signed a four-year, $3.1 million contract with the Saints, but was waived coming out of the preseason and later re-signe to the team’s practice squad.
Leonard had a brief stint with the Rams before signing on to the Cardinals’ practice squad in November.
