Aaron Reiss of The Athletic reports that the Texans were looking for a second-round pick in return for WR Will Fuller leading up to the trade deadline.
The Packers were among the teams to express interest in Fuller. However, Reiss reports that Green Bay’s best offer was a fourth-round pick days before their Week 8 loss to the Vikings. While the Packers were interested in a deal for Fuller, Reiss says they never moved off of this valuation for him.
In the end, the Texans elected to hold on to Fuller, who will be a free agent after the season.
ESPN’s Dianna Russini reported earlier in the day that there was a disagreement at the top of the organization about if it would be worth the cost to acquire Fuller given he’s in the final year of his contract.
Fuller, 26, is a former first-round pick of the Texans back in 2016. He was entering the final year of his four-year, $10.164 million contract and stood to make a base salary of $1.83 million for the 2019 season when the Texans exercised his fifth-year option last offseason.
The option is worth $10.1 million for the 2020 season. Fuller will be an unrestricted free agent in 2021.
In 2020, Fuller has appeared in six games for the Texans and caught 31 passes for 490 yards and five touchdowns.
