Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports thatย Texas A&M OT Jake Matthews worked out for the Jaguars last week.
According to DiRocco, the Jaguars could be targeting Matthews at No. 3 overall.
- Matthews has worked out for theย Bills,ย Browns,ย Falcons,ย Texans,ย Ramsย andย Titansย so far.
This is, of course, interesting given that the Jaguars used their 2013 first-round pick on fellow Texas A&M OT Luke Joeckel.
Jacksonville appears to be in a great position to walk away with a very solid player. Many see the Jaguars targeting a defensive player like Buffalo LB Khalil Mack or possibly even Clemson WR Sammy Watkins at No. 3, but it’s hard to completely rule out the idea of them taking an offensive tackle.
Jacksonville sent the Ravens LT Eugene Monroe last year in mid-season trade, so they could really use another tackle prospect balance out their offensive line.
Many evaluators have Auburn’s Greg Robinson listed as the No. 1 tackle prospect in this year’s draft, and there has even been some buzz in recent weeks that Michigan’s bcould go higher than Matthews. Even so, it’s hard to not Matthews who looks like a very technically sound prospect.
For what it’s worth, we have the Jaguars taking Mack at No. 3 overall in ourย most recentย 2014 NFL Mock Draft.
