According to Peter King of MMQB.com, the Titans will have a chance to trade out of the No. 1 overall pick in the coming weeks.
King mentions that the Titans haveย received “significant interest” in the pick and the odds of them trading out of the top spot are now “50-50.”
King presumes that the teams contacting Tennessee are interested in eitherย Carson Wentz or Jared Goff.
However, if the Titans were to hold onto the pick, King writes that Ole Miss OTย Laremy Tunsil or FSU DBย Jalen Ramsey are the top two considers, but there are alsoย a couple other players theyโre seriously considering.
Last we heard,ย Robert Klemko of MMQB.comย reportedย there are four teams in play for trading up with the Titans to No. 1 overall, including the Browns, 49ers, Eagles and Rams.
While Titans GM Jon Robinson mentioned that it would require “kings ransom” before later backing away from theย comment, saying that they’re open to any all options right now.
โI would say that statement was taken out of context a little bit,โโ Robinson said. โI think the question was: What would it take to move way back in the draft? And my answer was: โIt would take several picks for that to happen, a kingโs ransom for lack of a better term.
โThe reality is we are open to any option that makes our football team better. If that is picking a player, if that is moving the pick, whatever is the best option for the pick, weโll do it. It is much like a play-call sheet. Thereโs a lot of play calls listed on those sheets, and whatever call gives us the best opportunity to move the football or stop them from moving the football, itโs the same approach weโre going to take leading up to the draft.โ
Numerous reports have said that Tennessee is open for business in regards to the top pick and are looking forย trade options
Robinsonย said close toย a month ago that he’s spoken to a few teams about possibly trading the No. 1 overall pick.ย However,ย Robinson characterized the talks as “exploratory” in nature.
โIโve had a couple of conversations here and there. I think it is really more kind of exploratory at this point,โโ Robinsonย said, via Jim Wyatt of Titansonline.com. โAs we get a little bit closer, a little bit more through the process with the combine and interviews and pro days, I expect there will be a few more exploratory calls, and there may not be. Weโll see.โ
The Titans earned the No. 1 overall pick after posting a regular season record of 3-13.
I’m sure there will be plenty more talk about the Titans possibly trading their No. 1 overall pick in the coming months.
