According to Ian Rapoport, the Titans could be a potential team to watch for LB Terrell Suggs, who is currently on waivers after being let go from the Cardinals this week.
While Suggs reportedly prefers to finish out his career with the Ravens and has said he would “strongly consider” not reporting if claimed by another team, Rapoport says his familiarity with Titans DC Dean Pees from their time together in Baltimore might convince Suggs.
Rapoport notes at least one other team is poised to put in a claim on Suggs, which will make for an interesting situation to monitor this coming week.
NFL teams have until 4 pm EST on Monday to place a claim for Suggs. Any claiming team will owe him just over $350,000 for the final two weeks of the regular season.
Suggs, 37, is a former first-round pick of the Ravens back in 2003. He played out the final year of his five-year, $28.5 million contract that included $16 million guaranteed and made a base salary of $6.5 million for the 2018 season.
The Cardinals later signed Suggs to a one-year, $7 million contract this past March before waiving him on Thursday.
In 2019, Suggs has appeared in 13 games for the Cardinals and recorded 37 tackles, 5.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and a recovery. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 70 edge rusher out of 110 qualifying players.
