Pro Football Talk, citing a source with knowledge of the transaction, reports that the Bears are trading TE Adam Shaheen to the Dolphins for a conditional 2021 sixth-round draft pick.
The Bears have several tight ends on their roster and it was clear that Shaheen’s future in Chicago was in question.
He’ll get an opportunity to turn things around in Miami before becoming an unrestricted free agent next year.
Shaheen, 26, was selected with the No. 45 overall pick by the Bears in the 2017 NFL Draft. He is in the final year of his four-year rookie contract worth $5,910,516, which included a signing bonus of $2,438,556.
Shaheen stands to make a base salary of $1,270,980 for the 2020 season.
In 2019, Shaheen appeared in eight games and recorded nine receptions for 74 yards receiving (8.2 YPC) and no touchdowns.
