The Eagles announced Monday they have traded with the Browns for DE Genard Avery in exchange for an undisclosed 2021 draft pick.
According to Chris Mortensen, the Browns will receive a 2021 fourth-round pick from the Eagles in return for Avery.
Avery had fallen through the cracks when the Browns changed defensive schemes this year and had appeared in only two games. He showed promise as a rookie with 4.5 sacks as a backup pass rusher.
To make room on the roster, Philadelphia waived DT Bruce Hector.
Avery, 24, was drafted by the Browns in the fifth round out of Memphis in 2018. He’s entering the second year of a four-year, $2.7 million rookie deal and is set to make base salaries of $570,000 and $660,000 the next two seasons.
In 2019, Avery has appeared in two games for the Browns and recorded one tackle.
