Justin Rogers of the Detroit News reports that the Lions are trading TE Michael Roberts to the Patriots on Thursday for a conditional seventh-round pick in 2020.
The Patriots continue to bolster their tight end unit after Rob Gronkowski’s decision to retire this offseason.
Roberts, 25, is a former fourth-round pick of the Lions back in 2017. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $2.99 million contract.
Roberts stands to make base salaries of $645,000 and $735,000 over the next two years before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2021.
In 2018, Roberts appeared in eight games for the Lions and caught nine passes for 100 yards receiving and three touchdowns.
