Jordan Schultz reports that the Panthers are trading QB Kyle Allen to the Redskins on Monday.
According to Ian Rapoport, the Panthers will get a fifth-round pick in return for Allen.
Allen was with new Redskins HC Ron Rivera and QBs coach Scott Turner in Carolina last year. He’ll now serve as the backup to Dwayne Haskins.
Allen, 24, signed on with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent back in 2018. Allen was waived coming out of the preseason before the Panthers added him to their practice squad. He was called up to the active roster late in the season.
The Panthers re-signed Allen to a one-year contract a few weeks ago.
In 2019, Allen started 13 games for the Panthers and completed 62 percent of his passes for 3,322 yards, 17 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. He also rushed 32 times for 106 yards and two touchdowns.
