Ian Rapoport reports that the Patriots are trading former second-round CB Duke Dawson to the Broncos on Friday.
- Adam Schefter reports that the Patriots get a 2020 sixth-round pick in exchange for Dawson and a 2020 seventh-round pick.
The Patriots are deep at cornerback, so it makes sense that they would try to move one of them for an asset.
Dawson, 23, is a former second-round pick of the Patriots back in 2018 after New England traded up with the Buccaneers. He agreed to a four-year, $4,704,282 contract with the Patriots that includes a $1,501,296 signing bonus.
Dawson stands to make base salaries of $695,676 and $911,352 over the next two years of the agreement.
During his four-year college career at Florida, Dawson recorded 81 tackles, 6.5 tackles for a loss, six interceptions, three defensive touchdowns, 17 pass defenses and two forced fumbles.
