The Miami Dolphins announced Tuesday that they’ve acquired linebacker Stephone Anthony in a trade with the New Orleans Saints in exchange for a 2018 undisclosed draft pick.
This comes shortly after the news that the Dolphins have suspended veteran LB Lawrence Timmons indefinitely after he went missing on Saturday before their game against the Chargers.
Anthony had clearly fallen out of favor in New Orleans and a change of scenery could end up being good for him, as he looks to turn around his pro career.
In fact, the Saints brought in several notable free agents for workouts on Tuesday, so you can expect more changes in the coming weeks.
Anthony, 25, is a former first-round pick of the Saints back in 2015. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $7.731 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $1,137,884 and $1,087,150 over the next two years.
New Orleans will have to decide whether to pick up his fifth-year option in 2018.
This season, Anthony appeared in 10 games for the Saints and recorded 16 tackles and no sacks.
