Richardson had been linked to theย Roughriders for a few months now and it appears as though he finally decided that they were his best option.

Richardson has been away from the NFL the past two seasons and spent last summer working with his alma mater — the University of Alabama.

Whileย Richardson will always be known for being a major bust in the NFL, he’s still young enough to turn things around in the CFL.

Richardson, 27, was taken with the No. 3 overall pick by the Browns in 2012 NFL draft. However, he lasted just over a year in Cleveland before he was traded to the Colts for aย first-round pick.

The Raiders elected to sign him to aย two-year, $3.85 million contractย that includedย $600,000 guaranteed back in 2015 only to release him duringย roster cuts.

Richardson worked out for the Ravens a few years ago but had to get in shape before the team later signed him to aย one-year deal worthย $675,000. However, he was waived soon after.

In 2014, he ran for 519 yards on 159 carries (3.3 YPC) to go along with 27 receptions for 229 yards receiving and three touchdowns.
