UNC’s Mitch Trubisky Expected To Be Top QB Prospect In Next Year’s Class, Browns Team To Watch?

Jason Cole of B/R has spoken to several NFL scouts who consider UNC QB Mitch Trubisky the top quarterback prospect in next year’s draft class.

Cole says that Trubisky may consider entering the draft simply because his draft stock is so high right now. However, some believe he could still use another year of experience.

According to Cole, there’s a “strong chance” Trubisky could end up playing for the Browns should he enter the draft.

Last week, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported that the Browns have invested “significant time and resources” into finding a long-term solution at quarterback in the 2017 NFL Draft and both scouts and their front office are “very high” on Trubisky.

La Canfora’s sources added that the Browns are “particularly impressed” with Trubisky and have strong grades for the first-year starter. The Browns had scouts in attendance for UNC’s game on Saturday and have reportedly tracked Trubisky very closely.

“They love him,” a top evaluator from another NFL team tells La Canfora. “Trust me, they love him.”

Cleveland has plenty of draft picks to work with next year and could soon lock up the No. 1 overall pick, so they should have no issues coming away with their top target, even if they don’t use the top pick on a quarterback.

The Browns used a third-round pick last year on Cody Kessler. However, it’s unlikely that this would deter the Browns from grabbing another quarterback next year, especially after Kessler was benched during the game last week in favor of veteran Josh McCown.

During his three-year college career, Trubisky has thrown for 4,482 yards while completing 68.1 percent of his passes to go along with 38 touchdowns and eight interceptions over the course of 30 games. He’s also contributed another 401 yards rushing and eight touchdowns.

We’ll have more regarding the Browns and potential draft targets as the news is available.
