Vikings Claim S Andrew Sendejo Off Waivers From Eagles

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that the Vikings have claimed S Andrew Sendejo off of waivers from the Eagles on Wednesday.

To make room on the roster, the Vikings waived rookie S Marcus Epps, who they’ll try to re-sign to the practice squad, per Pelissero.

Sendejo, 32, originally signed on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Rice back in 2010. He lasted just over a year in Dallas before he was claimed off of waivers by the Jets.

The Vikings later signed Sendejo to a four-year, $16 million contract that included $2.5 million guaranteed. He was set to make a base salary of $5.45 million for the 2019 season when the Vikings declined to pick up his option this offseason.

Sendejo later signed a one-year deal with the Eagles, but was released on Tuesday in order to protect a compensatory pick.

In 2019, Sendejo has appeared in nine games for the Eagles and recorded 21 tackles, one sack, one interception and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 41 safety out of 106 qualifying players.
