Vikings “Kicking The Tires” On CB Dre Kirkpatrick

According to Darren Wolfson, the Vikings are “kicking the tires” on free agent CB Dre Kirkpatrick. However, Wolfson says there’s nothing more to report other than that right now.

The Vikings could use some help at cornerback and Kirkpatrick happens to have ties to Mike Zimmer from their time together in Cincinnati.

Beyond that, signing Kirkpatrick to a contract wouldn’t impact a team’s 2021 compensatory picks, given that he was released this offseason.

Kirkpatrick, 30, is a former first-round pick of the Bengals back in 2012. He played out his four-year, $8.622 million rookie contract before agreeing to a five-year, $52.5 million deal with $12 million guaranteed back in 2017.

Kirkpatrick was set to make a base salary of $9.4 million for the 2020 season when the Bengals released him a few weeks ago.

In 2019, Kirkpatrick appeared in six games and recorded 33 tackles, one sack, a fumble recovery and four pass defenses.

We have him included in our Top 100 Available 2020 Free Agents list.
