Vikings LB Chad Greenway Dealing With A Broken Hand

Vikings HC Mike Zimmer announced that veteran LBย Chad Greenway sustainedย a broken hand during Week 2’s loss to the Patriots, per Tom Pelissero.

  • Zimmer adds that he’s hoping Greenway will be able to play, despite the injury.

There was talk during training camp thatย Greenway could be on the chopping block, he wound up making the final 53-man roster.

Earlier in the offseason,ย Greenwayย agreed to reduce his 2014 salary fromย $6.5 million to $5.5 million in orderย remain with the team.

It’s worth mentioning thatย Greenway was playing withย broken bone in his wrist, which couldย explain his poorย tackling from last season.

Greenway, 31, has two years remaining on hisย five-year, $40.6 million contractย that inclededย $20 million guaranteed.ย The most significant figure regarding Greenway is most likely hisย $8.8 million cap figure for the 2015 season.

So far this season,ย Greenway has registered 10 tackles and a pass defense over the first two games.ย Pro Football Focusย has him rated as the No. 14ย outside linebacker in a 4-3 defenseย this season, which is towards the middle of the pack.
