Vikings Likely To Use Second-Round Tender On RFA WR Adam Thielen

Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press is reporting that the Vikings will most likely place a second-round tender on restricted free agent WR Adam Thielen.

The second-round tender will cost the Vikings $2.746 millionĀ for the 2017 season and net them a second-round pick if he receives an offer sheet from another team and they elect to pass on matching it.

Thielen, 26, wound up signing on with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of Minnesota State-Mankato back in 2013. He spent his rookie season the Vikings’ practice squad before returning to the team on a future/reserve contract the following year.

Minnesota signed Thielen to a one-year exclusive rights free agent last season.

In 2016, Thielen appeared in all 16 games for the Vikings and caught 69 passes for 967 yards receiving and five touchdowns for the the Vikings.Ā Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 18 receiver out of 115 qualifying players.
