Vikings Planning To Release WR Laquon Treadwell If They Can’t Trade Him

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Vikings are planning to move on from first-round WR Laquon Treadwell if they’re unable to trade him before the upcoming roster cuts deadline.

A source tells Josina Anderson that there’s a “50-50” chance of the Vikings trading Treadwell.

Reports dating back to the offseason mentioned that Treadwell was among the available players for trade, but there hasn’t been enough interest in him to complete a deal.

Treadwell, 24, is a former first-round pick of the Vikings back in 2016. He’s in the final year of his four-year, $9,934,980 contract that included a signing bonus of $5,425,440.

The Vikings declined Treadwell’s fifth-year option back in April, which means he’ll make a base salary of $1.8 million before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2020.

In 2018, Treadwell appeared in 15 games for the Vikings, catching 35 passes for 302 yards (8.6 YPC) and one touchdown.
