According to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero, the Vikings are releasing starting G Mike Remmers.
The Viking signed Remmers to a five-year, $30 million deal back in 2017.
The move frees up $4.55 million in cap space, per ESPN’s Courtney Cronin.
Remmers, 29, originally signed on with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon State back in 2012. He lasted just a few months with the team before signing on to the Buccaneers practice squad a week into the 2012 season.
Since then, Remmers has played for a few teams including the Chargers, Vikings and Rams before he signed to the Panthers’ active roster in 2014. Carolina brought Remmers back in a one-year, restricted deal in 2016.
In 2018, Remmers started all 16 games for the Vikings. He finished as Pro Football Focus‘ 48th-ranked guard out of 77 qualifying players.
