The Minnesota Vikings announced that they’ve signed OT Sean Hickey and LB Jason Whittingham to contracts on Wednesday.
Minnesota still has an open roster spot, so there could be another player brought in at some point in the near future.
Hickey, originally signed on with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Syracuse in May of last year. He unfortunately wasn’t able to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but later signed to their practice squad.
After New Orleans cut Hickey loose midseason, he briefly played for the Patriots before eventually signing a future/reserve contract with the Jets. However, New York placed him on waivers a week after this year’s draft had concluded.
Hickey has yet to appear in an NFL game.
Whittingham wound up going undrafted out of Utah a few months ago. This will be his first opportunity with an NFL team.
During his four-year college career, Whittingham recorded 153 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss, 2.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, a recovery and seven pass defenses.
