Raiders QB Derek Carr said that working with HC Jon Gruden has been “everything” he expected and the two have a great relationship.

“Everything I dreamed of and thought of about him, it’s been all that and then some,” Carr said, via the Jim Rome Show. “We are so similar. It’s so funny. When he was going to be a coach, the number one question was like, ‘How are you guys going to get along?’ And both of us would just sit there and laugh together. . . . We love football, we want to win, we love to compete. We love to demand from one another. I demand from him, he demands from me. I’m in his ear every day, ‘What do you have for me today? What are you teaching me today?’ And he’s in there pushing me. I can complete in practice — go 30 for 31, we’ll spend an hour talking about that one I missed and how it can be the difference in a game. And that’s exactly how I want it.”

Texans

New Texans CB Aaron Colvin says he’s looking to “wake everybody up this year” with his play.

“No question, it’s kind of past talking for me right now,” Colvin said, via Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle. “It’s something burning inside me. I can’t really explain, but I’ll wake everybody up this year.”

Colvin admitted that he would like to play some on the outside this year.

“Truthfully, I did want to play some outside,” Colvin said. “It’s about winning my one-on-ones. It gives myself the best chance to make a play.”

Titans

• Jim Wyatt of the Titans’ official site believes the addition of NT Bennie Logan will help free up DL Jurrell Casey this season.
