Buccaneers Signing DE Vinny Curry To Three-Year Deal Worth Up To $27M

Jenne Laine of ESPN is reporting that the Buccaneers are signing DE Vinny Curry to a three-year deal for up to $27 million with an $11.5 million injury guarantee.

This comes just minutes after the Buccaneers announced the released of veteran DE Robert Ayers, so it appears as though they had a replacement in mind before officially moving on from Ayers.

It’s worth mentioning that signing Curry to a contract won’t impact a team’s 2019 compensatory picks, given that he was released this offseason.

Curry, 29, is a former second-round pick of the Eagles back in 2012. He signed a five-year, $47.25 million contract that included $23 million guaranteed with the Eagles back in 2016 and was set to make base salaries of $9 million and $9.25 million over the next two years of the agreement when the Eagles recently released him.

In 2017, Curry appeared in all 16 games for the Eagles and recorded 42 tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 22 edge rusher out of 109 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
