Lions Planning To Sign LB Christian Jones To Two-Year Deal

Adam Schefter reports that Bears free agent LB Christian Jones is planning to sign a two-year contract with the Lions.

This comes shortly after the news that the Lions have signed LB Devon Kennard to a three-year, $18.75 million contract, so Detroit is clearly focused on overhauling their linebacking corps next year.

Jones, 27, wound up signing on with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Florida State back in 2014. He played out the final year of his three-year, $1.537 million rookie contract before returning to Chicago on a one-year deal last March.

In 2017, Jones appeared in all 16 games for the Bears and recorded 90 tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble, a recovery and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 64 linebacker out of 87 qualifying players.
