Packers Hosting OLB Ahmad Brooks For Visit Tuesday

According to Ian Rapoport, free agent OLB Ahmad Brooks is flying to Green Bay Monday night and visit with the team on Tuesday.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media is reporting that the Packers are bringing free agent OLB Ahmad Brooks for a visit. The Broncos have interest in Brooks too, according to Rapoport.

  • A source tells Nicki Jhabvala that Brooks is scheduled to visit the Packers on Tuesday and he has the Broncos on his short list of teams, but no visit lined up right now.

San Francisco was holding out for a potential trade to surface, but one name came and they elected to release him a few days ago.

The Packers could really use some pass rush depth behind Clay Matthews and Nick Perry, and given that Brooks is one of the best available free agents at the position, it could be a good fit for both parties.

Brooks, 33, is a former supplemental third-round pick of the Bengals back in 2006. He spent two years in Cincinnati before he was claimed off of waivers by the 49ers in 2008.

In 2016, Brooks appeared in all 16 games for the 49ers and recorded 35 tackles, six sacks, four pass defenses and a forced fumble. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 87 edge rusher out of 110 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
