NFC West Notes: Cardinals, Rams, Seahawks

Cardinals

Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald says his focus on doing what he can to help the team’s group of quarterbacks get ready for the 2018 season and not his future in the NFL.

I’m more focused on what I need to be doing so I can help the quarterback competition,” Fitzgerald said, via AzCardinals.com. “Whoever is throwing it to me, I have to be there and make the plays like I always have. That’s really where my mind is at. I can’t worry about who is throwing to me. I never have. Been a (QB) carousel for 14, 15 years and I never really worry about who is throwing the football. I just need to be ready for whoever is throwing the football.

Fitzgerald is closing in some major milestones, as he’s just 390 yards from surpassing Terrell Owens for second most all-time and 92 receptions from surpassing Tony Gonzalez for second-most receptions ever.

“Records, that’s always something you don’t like to talk about,” Fitzgerald said. “It’s never really in the framework of the team. If it comes, it comes, if it doesn’t, it doesn’t. Like I always am, I take it in stride. You don’t play 15 years for personal records. You play for something bigger.”

Rams

Rams CB Aqib Talib thinks the team’s revamped secondary is going to be “great” this year.

“I think we’re gonna be great. It’s going to be great,” Talib said, via TheRams.com. “We’re good in the meeting room, on the field, off the field, we’re good — so it’s going to be great. Progress has been great [too]. Like today we even was cleaning some stuff up.”

“So, as long as Monday night comes and all our communication is black and white — no gray — we’re good,” Talib continued. “From where we were on Day 1 to now, it’s a lot of progress.
