The San Francisco 49ers announced Tuesday that they’ve activatedย WR Trent Taylor, G Jonathan Cooper and LB Dekoda Watson from the PUP list and LB Malcolm Smith and S Marcell Harris from the NFI list.
49ersย DE Kentavius Streetย is the only player still on the NFI list.
Smith, 29, is a former seventh-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2011. He played out his rookie contract with the Seahawks and was named Super Bowl MVP a few years ago before signing a two-year deal with the Raiders in 2015.
The 49ers signed Smith to aย five-year, $26.5 million contract that included $13 million guaranteed this last March. He stands to make a base salary of $3 million for the 2018 season.
In 2016, Smith appeared in 15 games for the Raiders and recorded 103 tackles, one interception, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and three pass defenses.ย Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 67 linebacker out of 87 qualifying players.
Cooper, 27, is a former first-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2013.ย The Cardinals traded him to the Patriots as part of the Chandler Jones‘ย trade, but New England declined to pick up his fifth-year option and later cut him looseย in 2016.
The Browns later claimed him off of waivers from New Englandย but he lasted just a few months in Cleveland. The Cowboys signed Cooper to aย one-year, $2 million contract last year and he joined the 49ers on another one-year agreement this past March.
In 2017,ย Cooper appeared in 13 games for the Cowboys and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 35 guard out of 77 qualifying players.
