The San Francisco 49ers announced Saturday that they’ve placed rookie TE Charlie Woerner on the COVID-19 list and activated LB Mark Nzeocha from injured reserve.
The 49ers also promoted TE Daniel Helm, OL Dakoda Shepley and OL Isaiah Williams to their active roster.
The COVID-19 list was created this summer for a player who either tests positive for or who has been quarantined after having been in close contact with an infected person or persons.
Players will remain on the list until they are medically cleared to return.
Nzeocha, 30, is a former seventh-round pick out of Wyoming by the Cowboys in the 2015 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year, $2,344,348 rookie contract and was set to make a base salary of $615,000 in 2017 when the Cowboys cut him loose coming out of the preseason.
Dallas later signed Nzeocha to their practice squad, but lost him to the 49ers a few weeks into the regular season. Nzeocha re-signed with the 49ers for the 2018 season and has remained in San Francisco.
For his career, Nzeocha has appeared in 53 games and made 21 tackles, one sack, an interception, a forced fumble and two passes defended.
