49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said RB Tevin Coleman is expected to miss four weeks with his knee injury and will likely go on injured reserve, per Cam Inman.
The 49ers are now likely to be without Coleman and Raheem Mostert for Week 3’s game against the Giants. Mostert should be able to return sooner than Coleman, however.
San Francisco will likely turn to Jeff Wilson and Jerick McKinnon to carry the load this week and could promote JaMycal Hasty from the practice squad.
Coleman, 27, is a former third-round pick of the Falcons back in 2015. He played out the final year of his four-year, $3.219 million contract before agreeing to a two-year, $10 million contract with the 49ers last year.
In 2020, Coleman has appeared in two games for the 49ers and rushed for 30 yards on 18 carries (1.7 YPC) to go along with three receptions for 34 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
