Jim Harbaug and the San Francisco 49ers have had a pretty rough offseason so far in which they’ve lost some players and missed out on plenty more (Nnamdi Asomugha).
The next best option at cornerback is Jets CB Antonio Cromartie.
Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com is reporting that San Francisco has ย โbeen in touchโ with Cromartie and his representation.
The 49ers let go of CB Nate Clements yesterday so they have a big need a cornerback but they’re going to have to step in and set the market if they plan on landing Cromartie. He has already said that he is going to be looking for as much as he can get and added that he’s not going to be offering the Jets a hometown discount of any kind.
Which goes back to our previous point. So far they’ve missed out a number of players that they really could use. If they’re serious about fixing their roster holes then they’re going to have to step up their pursuit of the remaining players that they’re considering. After all, there are other teams (Jets) with similar needs and cash.
