ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the San Francisco 49ers have sent out a “mass email” to all 32 team to inform then that’ve decided to start fielding offers for S Taylor Mays.
It’s only been one season but San Francisco obviously feels that they’re better off moving in a different direction without Mays. Last year the rookie struggled throughout the season and looked lost in coverage schemes but would be hard to image that a team would be willing to part with any more than a late draft pick for him.
One speculative option could be the Seattle Seahawks as they have currently have Kam Chancellor slotted as their starting safety. Plus, Pete Carroll was Mays’s former coach at USC but that connection hasn’t been a huge factor in putting together the teams roster thus far.
