49ers Place OT Anthony Davis On Reserve/Left Squad List

The San Francisco 49ers officially placed OT Anthony Davis on the exempt/left squad list on Monday.

This comes after the team announced last week that Davis has decided to once again retire from the NFL.

At the start of the season, the 49ers had Davis listed on their practice report as not participating in practice for a non-injury related reason.

Soon after that, reports mentions that Davis was again weighing the possibility of retiring from the NFL, even though he returned to the team a few months prior.

Davis, 27, is a former first-round pick who still has five years remaining on his seven-year, $39.67 million contract that included $17 million guaranteed. At the time of his retirement, he was set to make base salaries of $1.85 million (2015), $2.65 million (2016), $4 million (2017), and $5.375 million (2018-2019).

In 2014, Davis was limited appearing in seven games for the 49ers due to a number of injuries including a concussion, knee and hamstring issues.
